An upright human figure was probably one of the first graphic works to adorn Stone Age caves. Humanity’s fascination with itself has led people to represent themselves again and again in an effort to better understand who we are. Minimal and essential, Mono seeks to exalt the essence of those first sketches, expressing in a simple and elegant way what, in its silhouette, distinguishes the human being from the rest of creation.
Opposite the broader and more robust silhouette of the man stands the lighter, more slender silhouette of the woman. This set of sculptures was conceived as a pair, because one complements the other and together they suggest inhabiting a space, evoking human presence. Mona also recalls the work of great sculptors such as Brancusi and Giacometti, as a strong and simplified reinterpretation.
